Honorable John A. Zottola 55, is a 1982 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Judge Zottola was elected to the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County in 1993. From 1994 until 2011, Judge Zottola served in the Criminal Division of the Court. From 2011 until the present, he has served in the Orphans’ Court Division. From 2004 through 2010, Judge Zottola was the supervising judge of the Allegheny County Investigative Grand Jury. From 1996 until 2011, Judge Zottola supervised Allegheny County’s Mental Health Court, which has received national recognition. He is also the supervising judge of the Allegheny County Veterans’ Court, which commenced in 2009.
Since 2007, Judge Zottola has been a member of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency and chairs the Mental Health and Justice Advisory Committee of the Commission. Judge Zottola is also a member of the Veterans in Pennsylvania Criminal Justice Task Force.
